The Rick Springfield butt assault trial seems to have reach it’s emotional peak.
First, let’s flash back to 2004. It’s a beautiful summer day on August 28 at the New York State Fair. Vicki Calcagno, then 34, is finishing off her day with a Rick Springfield concert at Chevy Court. Little did she know, the events of the concert would change her life.
Springfield, as performers are oft to do, would go into the crowd and strike Calcagno with his buttocks (allegedly), knocking her unconscious, and permanently injuring the Liverpool native.
This incident has seen a 2007 trial, and is now being retried in Syracuse, New York.
“Supreme Court Justice Anthony Paris declared a mistrial in 2013 when a new witness came forward. Penny Anne Nolin, of Port Byron, contacted Goldblatt [Calcagno’s attorney] during the trial to tell him that she was also knocked down by Springfield’s butt during the 2004 concert,” according to Syracuse.com.
